The game is currently divided into three successive acts of which, for each of them, you will have to travel a long road strewn with monsters of all kinds (or plumes), which will lead you to a big final boss. You will also need to finish the game with the first character to unlock the second.įinally, for the more fierce, the game also has a sort of still experimental late game: if you manage to kill the 3 random final bosses of Act 3, you will unlock Ascension mode Divided into stages, it consists of runs with handicaps and challenges of exponential difficulty. It is therefore necessary to multiply the runs to access the best of the 176 maps and 116 relics. In addition, as long as you have completed at least one act, a reward (to choose from 4, each time random) will be offered to start the next run in better conditions, you will also keep your remaining Gold (but capped at 99 gold coins). And clearly, this pseudo-RPG overlay makes the game much more motivating. These will allow you, at each level gain, to unlock new cards or relics. Dungeon trips, but with a crucial difference: your life points do not return to the max between each fight and, since it is a roguelike, each completed run will grant you experience points (in proportion to your progress). Its run system (basically if you die you have to start over from the beginning) will certainly remind Hearthstone players of recent times. Some will deplore a rather needy lore, but it is often the lot of this kind of game, the few lines of text are intended to install an atmosphere, but do not expect to feel involved in an elaborate story: it is not. Who says donjon crawler says dungeon, and therefore a very codified universe, with its bestiary, its treasures and its traps. So a warning, this game despite its run format, is very time consuming indeed even if you can stop / resume a run in progress at any time, the temptation to finish it and restart another is great! But let’s get to the heart of the matter. It should also be noted that a partial localization in French is already available in the game, but although fairly well made, it still suffers from some display bugs on the maps (missing texts), so it is preferable, if you do not t are not completely closed to the English language, to play in original version at first.įor my part, after forty hours of play, I am still very excited, and I am already looking forward to redoing a run! Because yes, it’s the kind of game that makes you obsessive, the one you think about when you’re not playing it and which makes you forget everything when you’re in it. The sound environment is rather successful, especially the music, symphonic, quite epic, tinged with an ounce of melancholy. In short, many are not convinced by the design, but personally it did not bother me too much, and then hey, it’s early access, so you can reasonably think that improvements are planned. Visually, we could bring it closer to Darkest Dungeon, but in (much) smoother, in a somewhat schizophrenic graphic style that hesitates between gothic and cartoon. Mega Crit Games, an independent American studio based in Seattle, offers us a dungeon crawler innovative which subtly associates roguelike et deckbuilding. Released in early access on Steam less than 3 months ago (November 15, 2017), Slay the Spire has quickly won over the community. Available in early access, the game is currently experiencing a certain hype, and besides many streamers (especially from Hearthstone) have started too! So STS is it worth it? Slay the Spire is an indie game that skillfully combines roguelike and card drafting. : Slay the Spire: what is roguelike and what are its Part one cards
